SOAR Inflatable Canoes - Somewhere On A River

The purpose of this section of Southwest Paddler is to alert outdoor recreation enthusiasts about matters of concern regarding rules and laws affecting right of access, environmental protection, natural and man-made obstruction hazards and other related matters that often require intervention by those who wish to preserve and protect our waterways, streambeds, riverbanks, woods and forests, and the natural habitats of birds, fish and wildlife. Such issues may include government or private dam construction, opening or closing access points to the public and allowing activities that are damaging to the natural environment such as logging, oil and gas exploration, ATV and ORV operations in sensitive areas and dumping chemical contaminants into surface water or soil, as well as many other issues that may arise from time to time.

[ Buffalo National River (Arkansas) Issues ]

[ Texas River Access Issues ]

[ White River System (Arkansas/Missouri) Pollution ]

[ Mountain Fork (Oklahoma) Pollution Issues ]
The issues addressed herein will primarily be related to concerns within the 8 states that are the core of Southwest Paddler interests, but similar issues in other states may be addressed, as well. If you know of a major issue that demands the attention and intervention of outdoor recreation enthusiasts, such as disseminating information, gathering petition signatures, making group appearances at local, state or federal hearings on issues or other actions that may help preserve and protect the natural environment, then please forward details of that information for inclusion in this section. We only have one environment. When it is gone, then the things we all enjoy doing in the great outdoors will also be gone, and our quality of life will be severely diminished. ACT NOW! Get involved! The environment you save WILL be your own!
